Bayan News – Taliban officials from the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum say that the daily oil extraction from the Amu Darya Basin has currently increased to 1,350 tons.
Hamayun Afghan, the spokesperson for the ministry, stated today, Thursday (February 28), through a video sent to the media that this amount of oil is extracted from 24 drilling sites.
According to him, the extracted crude oil is obtained from 15 wells in the Qashqari field, six wells in the Angot field, and three wells in the Aqdarya field.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum further added that by the end of the current Gregorian year, the number of oil wells in the Amu Darya Basin is expected to increase to 47 wells, and nevertheless, the daily extraction rate will reach 3,000 tons.
The majority of the oil wells are located in the province of Sar-e Pol in northern Afghanistan, and some of these wells are also situated in the provinces of Jowzjan and Faryab.
Over the past two years, the Taliban has focused largely on Afghanistan’s mines, including oil extraction.
