Taliban’s Acting Minister of Mines: Major National Projects to Be Funded from Mining Revenues

Bayan News – Shahab al-Din Delavar, the acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum of the Taliban, says that major national projects such as the railway project should be funded from Afghanistan’s mining revenues.

The acting Minister of Mines made these remarks during a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Railways of the Ministry of Public Works, and stated that the mines are the national capital of Afghanistan, and more care should be taken in the area of contract signing and mining.

Delavar said: “Major national projects should be funded from mining revenues. The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum is trying to award mining contracts with transparency and in accordance with mining principles and procedures, and allocate its revenues to national projects.”

The Deputy Minister of the Railways Department also requested that the Ministry of Mines support the railway projects.

Over the past two years, the Taliban have made the greatest efforts on the extraction and contracting of Afghanistan’s mines.

During the past two years, dozens of Afghanistan’s mines in various provinces have been contracted to domestic and international companies; however, these measures have also drawn reactions from the Taliban’s opponents.
