Masoud Pezeshkian Sworn In as President of Iran
Bayan News – Masoud Pezeshkian, the ninth President of Iran, was sworn in at the Iranian Parliament on Tuesday afternoon (July 30th).
Many regional officials, including a Taliban delegation, attended the inauguration ceremony of the Iranian President.
According to the Iranian news agency IRNA, after taking the oath of office, the new Iranian President stated that the Iranian presidential election has opened a new chapter for Iran and the world.
He said: “In our vision, Iran is a developed country with a leading economic, scientific and technological position in the region, with an Islamic revolutionary identity, inspiring the Islamic world, and having a constructive and effective engagement in international relations.”
Pezeshkian also referred to his country’s relations with neighboring countries, stating that “the priority of the foreign policy of the 14th government is to strengthen relations with neighboring countries.”
The new Iranian President added that neighboring countries should not waste their valuable resources in attritive tensions and competitions.
He stressed: “My government wants a strong region where all neighboring countries can take joint steps for economic development, progress and improving the lives of future generations. A region whose security will be ensured by the presence of regional countries. A region that does not allow a few extremist and dogmatic individuals to trap nearly two billion free-thinking Muslims in the false narrative of Islamophobia.”
However, senior members of Hamas and the Houthi movement in Yemen also attended the inauguration ceremony of the Iranian President.
