The Turkish Foreign Minister refrained from meeting with Muttaqi

Bayan News – Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban Foreign Minister who recently traveled to Cameroon to participate in a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, made a stop in Turkey on his return to Kabul.

A diplomatic source told Afghan media that Muttaqi faced a cold and reluctant reception from Turkish officials in Istanbul. The sources continued that Turkey, in addition to keeping its embassy in Kabul open, has no interest in expanding its relations with the Taliban.

This diplomatic source also stated that the current interaction of the Turkish government with the Taliban is compelled and necessary.

However, the Turkish Foreign Minister has not provided any explanations regarding the publication of these reports.

On the other hand, the Turkish government was one of the first countries to reopen its embassy in Kabul and send its diplomatic mission after the Taliban regained power.

Although Turkey and other foreign countries have not recognized the Taliban government, they are cooperating in close interaction with the current government in Kabul.
