Michael: Washington’s withdrawal from Afghanistan was the worst foreign policy in U.S. history

Bayan News – Michael McCaul, Chairman of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, described Washington’s chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan as the worst foreign policy decision in U.S. history.

Speaking on Wednesday (September 25) in the U.S. House of Representatives, he added that instead of acknowledging its mistake, the Biden administration is celebrating the deadly withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan.

According to him, following Biden’s decision, the Taliban captured Afghanistan province by province.

He further stated that the Biden-Harris administration, by withdrawing U.S. forces from Afghanistan, ignored the Taliban’s violation of the Doha Agreement.

McCaul named several officials responsible for the “disastrous” U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, including Jake Sullivan, National Security Advisor; Jonathan Finer, Deputy National Security Advisor and Assistant to the President; Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, Homeland Security Advisor to the President; John Kirby, National Security Council Spokesperson; and Jen Psaki, former White House Press Secretary.

McCaul’s list also included Brian McKeon, former Deputy Secretary of State; Ross Wilson, former U.S. Ambassador to Kabul; Ned Price, former State Department Spokesperson; Garry Schallert, Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Defense; and Colin Kahl, former Under Secretary of Defense for Policy.

Michael McCaul called on Congress to hold these senior Biden administration officials accountable. He said, “If the Biden administration refuses to hold itself accountable, Congress must do so.”
