Biden Plans to Maintain the Annual Admission Program for 125,000 Refugees in 2025

Bayan News – American media outlets have reported that U.S. President Joe Biden, in a memorandum to the State Department, stated that he plans to maintain the annual admission program for 125,000 refugees for the fiscal year 2025.

This program is specifically for vulnerable individuals who have fled their countries due to threats and persecution.

According to published reports, the United States is currently in the process of admitting around 100,000 refugees for the fiscal year 2024 through this program.

The U.S. fiscal year ends on September 30.

If this plan succeeds and the U.S. reaches its desired refugee admission limit, it will mark the highest number of refugees admitted in the past three decades.

Reports indicate that Biden’s administration first raised the refugee admission cap to 125,000 per year in 2022, but so far, it has not been able to meet its target.
