The Taliban arrested five people in Takhar for playing music

Bayan News – Taliban forces in Takhar province arrested five people on Saturday, October 12, for playing music.

Abdul Mubin Safi, spokesperson for the Taliban’s police command in the province, stated in an announcement that these individuals were arrested in the Chah Ab district of Takhar. According to this Taliban official, the musicians were arrested “after a precise intelligence report” by personnel from the Taliban’s police command in Chah Ab.

Safi added that preliminary investigations into the arrested individuals have begun. In a photo he shared, musical instruments and loudspeakers can be seen alongside the detainees.

This comes as the Taliban consider listening to and playing music forbidden under Islamic Sharia law, and over the past three years, several artists and musicians have been arrested and imprisoned.
