Statistics Office: Nearly Two Thousand Foreign Nationals Came to Afghanistan for Employment

Bayan News – The Statistics and Information Office of the interim government reports that in the past month, 2,131 foreign nationals entered Afghanistan through land and air crossings, of whom 1,697 came specifically for work and employment.

In a statement on Sunday (October 27), the office noted that 63 of these foreign nationals are women. Additionally, the Statistics Office stated that, during the same period, 1,809 foreign nationals departed from the country.

According to their data, most entries and exits occurred through land border crossings. The majority of foreign arrivals came through the Nimroz, Torkham, and Hairatan border points, as well as the airports in Herat and Balkh.

The interim government considers the travel of foreign nationals to Afghanistan as a sign of improvement in the country’s economic and security conditions.

Meanwhile, reports and a large wave of emigration from Afghanistan suggest otherwise. A few months ago, the International Organization for Migration reported that nearly 8 million Afghan citizens have left the country since 2020.
