Afghanistan’s Acting Government Envoy in China Announces Opening of Railway Line Between Afghanistan and China
Bayan News – Bilal Karimi, Afghanistan’s acting government envoy in China, has announced the opening of a railway line between Afghanistan and China, stating that the first shipment of goods is expected to reach Afghanistan within 20 days.
The Afghan envoy in China shared this news on Thursday (October 31) via the platform X, adding that the railway line was inaugurated in the city of Nantong with the presence of Yuxiaong, China’s representative for Afghanistan. According to this Taliban diplomatic official, the first train, carrying 50 containers of commercial goods, departed from Nantong and is expected to arrive at Hairatan Port in northern Afghanistan within 20 days.
At the railway inauguration ceremony, the Taliban envoy emphasized that the Wakhan corridor in Badakhshan could also become an important route for the trade goals of both countries.
The acting government further noted that with the start of this railway line, traders from both countries will be able to conduct their imports and exports with ease.
Although China has not formally recognized Afghanistan’s current government, trade relations between the two countries have strengthened in recent days.
