UN: Continued Restrictions on Women by Kabul’s Current Government Are a Threat to All

Bayan News – The United Nations Women’s section (UN Women) states that Afghan women and girls are facing widespread oppression, which poses a threat to everyone.

On Tuesday, November 5, the organization posted a message on the platform X, saying: “They (women) have been deprived of their rights, barred from education, confined to their homes, and are now even forbidden from speaking to one another.”

UN Women added in the message, “This injustice is a threat to us all. Raise your voices for the women and girls in Afghanistan.”

It is noteworthy that after taking power in Afghanistan, the Taliban interim government banned girls from attending schools and barred women from working in domestic and international offices and organizations.

Furthermore, women and girls have also been prohibited from social interactions and participating in political and cultural events.

Although the international community has widely protested these restrictions, Kabul’s current regime continues to enforce these policies.

Over the past three years, Taliban officials have consistently claimed that they are upholding women’s rights according to Islamic law.

In response to international objections, the Taliban have stated that issues concerning women and girls are internal matters of Afghanistan, and no country should interfere in these matters.
