US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said in a recent statement that China is working to change the world order.
“Beijing has posed the most serious long-term challenge to world order,” he told a news conference on Thursday.
“China is the only country that both seeks to change the world order and is increasingly pursuing economic, diplomatic, military and technological power,” Blinken added.
“This decade will be decisive for the nations of the world,” he said.
He also stressed that China’s view diverts the United States from world values that have evolved greatly over the past 75 years.
According to Blinken, the United States can no longer persuade China to back down from the path it has chosen, because the Chinese president has taken a firm stand on this issue.
“Therefore, we will create a strategic environment around Beijing to pursue our vision for an open and inclusive international system,” he said.
Over the past year, Sino-US relations have soured over various global issues. The rivalries between the two world powers have had a negative impact on the nations of the region and the world.
