Bayan News – Simultaneously with the visit of Antony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, to Kyiv, Moscow has initiated a fresh wave of attacks in eastern Ukraine, with the latest incident resulting in the reported deaths of 17 individuals.
An Associated Press correspondent has reported seeing the bodies of the deceased lying on the ground, covered with blankets. These fresh attacks have taken place in Kostiantynivka, in the Donetsk region.
Just hours before, Russian missiles had exploded targets in Kyiv and the southern city of Odessa, resulting in the death of one civilian in Odessa, although no casualties were reported in Kyiv.
The situation in the city of Kostiantynivka has been described as critical, with firefighting forces dispatched to the scene to extinguish fires.
Denys Shmyhal, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, has stated that the number of fatalities is expected to rise. Images published by the Associated Press depict a highly tragic situation with lifeless and injured individuals immersed in blood.
Local authorities state that 20 shops, power lines, and several administrative and residential buildings have been damaged as a result of these attacks.
The attacks targeted a market, and according to Volodymyr Zelensky, a child is among the casualties. The President of Ukraine condemned the attack, labeling it as a shameful act by “devilish Russia.”
