Haqqani in Meeting with UNAMA Chief: Neighbors’ Internal Issues Shouldn’t Burden Migrants

Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Acting Minister of Interior of Afghanistan, stated in a meeting with the UNAMA Chief that the internal issues of neighboring countries should not create problems for Afghan migrants.

In the recent meeting, the Acting Minister of Interior referred to achieving global peace as similar to achieving peace in Afghanistan and emphasized that Afghanistan seeks good and friendly relations with its neighbors.

Meanwhile, Rozetbayoua, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and the Chief of UNAMA in Kabul, added that he has called for the presentation of alternative development programs in Afghanistan in meetings with representatives of various countries.

Rozetbayoua also reiterated that the international community supports the provision of vocational training for rehabilitated addicts.

The UNAMA Chief further emphasized the need for increased assistance to address the problems of migrants, referring to the intensified expulsion of Afghan migrants by neighboring countries.

He also stated that the issue of Afghan returnees from Iran and Pakistan is under the scrutiny of the international community and there will be commitments in this regard.

In recent months, close to 400 migrants have been returned to the country, both forcibly and voluntarily, by neighboring countries.
