President’s Order in Tajikistan: Shahnameh by Ferdowsi to be Distributed Free of Charge to the People

Bayan News – Imam Ali Rahman, the President of Tajikistan, has instructed the institutions of the country to distribute Shahnameh by Ferdowsi free of charge to every family in the nation.

The President of Tajikistan issued this order on Thursday, December 6th, during the conference “Babajan Ghafurov,” honoring him as the greatest researcher and historian of Tajik culture. The purpose of this order is to enhance the people’s awareness of their ancestral history, culture, and civilization.

According to BBC Persian, the President emphasized in his speech that more than half a century ago, in 1971, Shahnameh by Ferdowsi was published in two volumes in the Russian language and in nine volumes in Persian script as part of the Eastern Calligraphy Heritage publication, initiated by the academician Ghafurov.

Imam Ali Rahman stated, “I have repeatedly expressed that we must know our ancestors and ourselves, that is, we must know our roots and respect them.”

However, according to reports, in the early 1990s, during the peak of national and democratic movements in Tajikistan, the statue of Lenin, the leader of the Soviet Union, was removed from the capital city of Dushanbe and replaced with a statue of Ferdowsi.
