Bayan News – The Russian prison administration has announced that Alexei Navalny, a renowned critic of Russian President Putin, has died in custody at the “Matrosskaya Tishina” prison.
According to Reuters, the Russian prison authorities stated that Navalny felt unwell during a walk today, Saturday (February 16), and immediately lost consciousness.
Officials at the prison stated that they took actions to save this well-known critic of Putin, but their efforts did not yield positive results, and ultimately, doctors confirmed his death.
Navalny was a prominent political figure who strongly criticized Putin’s policies for over a decade, which brought him international recognition.
This outspoken critic of Putin returned to Russia from Germany three years ago and was subsequently prosecuted by the Russian government, leading to his sentencing to 19 years in prison.
Navalny’s death has sparked international reactions, including from the United States, France, and Germany, who have held the Russian government responsible for his death.
