Thomas West, the US special envoy to Afghanistan, who recently visited Uzbekistan, added that Tashkent plays a key role in supporting the Afghan people.

The US Special Representative for Afghanistan said in a tweet on Saturday (June 7th) that he had spent two fruitful days in Tashkent discussing various regional issues with Uzbek officials.

According to West, Tashkent is playing an important role in supporting the Afghan people, which is why it has recently become an important humanitarian center in the city of Tirmuz.

He stressed that Uzbekistan would continue to export electricity to Afghanistan, stressing that the Tashkent leadership would work with the Taliban on common priorities, including the fight against terrorism and human rights.

However, after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, Uzbekistan is trying to establish close and good relations with the Taliban. To strengthen ties, security officials from the two countries recently discussed resolving border issues in the northern Afghan port of Hairatan.
