Taliban Response to UN Security Council: There are no foreign groups operating in Afghanistan

The Taliban’s foreign ministry said in response to a recent UN Security Council report that no foreign fighters were active in Afghanistan.

Recently, the UN Security Council in its 13th monitoring report claimed that the activity of foreign fighters in Afghanistan has increased.

The report also claims that the Taliban leadership has renewed its ties and allegiance to al-Qaeda.

The Foreign Ministry of the Taliban issued a statement on Monday (June 9th) saying, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate has strongly rejected the 13th report of the UN Security Council monitoring group on the presence and activities of foreign groups in Afghanistan.”

The ministry’s newsletter also states that the Taliban regime has prevented any harm to the countries of the region and the world, and that the current government has always tried to build an atmosphere of trust with the countries of the world and the region for the past nine months.

“The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan reaffirms its commitment and assures that it will not allow anyone to use Afghan territory against another,” the Taliban Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The Taliban-based government in Kabul has told Security Council members that the current Afghan government should be given the legitimate right to present the facts through its permanent representative to the Security Council and other countries.
