Pakistan’s political crisis: Khalilzad: Islamabad to go to early elections

Bayan News

Former US envoy for Afghanistan’s peace, Zalmay Khalilzad, advises Islamabad to go to early elections to contain the crisis.

Pakistan is currently facing a triple crisis (political, economic, security) and despite its capacities, pakistan appears weak in its practice, he added on Tuesday night.

Khalilzad tweeted that Pakistan is lagging behind its rival India, noting that it must boldly jump into the strategy.

The former US envoy for Afghan peace also pointed to the detention of Imran Khan and his supporters, adding that his detention (Imran Khan) would deepen the political crisis in Pakistan.

In his remarks, Khalilzad advised that in order to contain Pakistan’s political crisis, the country should go to early elections on January 1 and hand over its power to the victorious party.

The comments come as clashes broke out between Pakistani security forces and former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
