Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has expressed concern that the activities of extremist groups have increased in Afghanistan.

He made these statements on Friday (April 28) at the meeting of defense ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in New Delhi, the capital of India.

The Russian Defense Minister added that Afghanistan’s neighbors are extremely worried about the increase in extremist activities in this country.

Shoigu said, “The situation in the Central Asia region is the background for the further deterioration of the situation. “At the same time, the main threat comes from several extremist groups that have settled in Afghanistan and have increased their activities in neighboring republics.”

He added that Moscow is still worried about the influence of international terrorist groups and organizations such as ISIS, Al-Qaeda and the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, and these groups are considered a threat to the region.

These concerns are raised while the officials of the caretaker government in Kabul have always assured that Afghanistan’s soil will not be used against any country.
