banning girls’ education in Afghanistan; 130 million girls in the world are deprived of education

Bayan news

Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, says that currently 130 million girls in the world are deprived of the right to education.

On Saturday (July 1), he wrote in a tweet that half of these girls deprived of education live in countries affected by the crisis.

The Secretary General of the United Nations stated that investing in girls, their education and human rights is an investment in the future, adding that their lack of access to school causes them to be exposed to early marriage and violence.

Guterres raises this issue while more than one million Afghan girls are denied the right to education.

After the Islamic Emirate regained control over Afghanistan, girls above the sixth grade were barred from the right to education and universities.
