The Islamic Emirate has suspended projects funded by Sweden
Bayan News – The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Kabul caretaker government has announced that it will not sign agreements with institutions funded by the Swedish government. The ministry stated in a newsletter on Friday (July 13) that Sweden made an irreparable mistake by allowing an immigrant to burn a copy of the Quran, causing harm to the feelings of Muslims.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs also stated that the seven projects supported by Sweden and Swedish institutions will be suspended and not implemented.
Last week, an Iraqi immigrant, with the permission of the Swedish Supreme Court, burned a copy of the Quran, which angered Muslims around the world.
However, the Swedish Committee is an international organization that provides humanitarian assistance to those in need in Afghanistan. After the ban on Swedish institutions’ activities, the committee announced that it is in talks with officials of the Kabul caretaker government.
Some Islamic countries, including Iran, refrained from sending an ambassador to Stockholm in response to this action.
