Bayan News – Tobias Ellwood, the chair of the UK Defense Committee, expressed regret over his recent remarks that Afghanistan is in a good position.
In an interview with Talk TV, Ellwood said, “It’s important to put your hand up and acknowledge your mistakes, even if you had good intentions.”
Ellwood had recently praised the interim Kabul government’s management and said that corruption in the country had been eradicated and security had improved. He had also asked the British government to reopen its embassy in Kabul in the video.
His remarks were met with widespread criticism on social media.
After facing criticism, the chair of the UK Defense Committee removed the video from his Twitter account.
