A senior Moscow official warns against the use of nuclear weapons against Ukraine
Bayan News – Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, says that if the Ukrainian army succeeds with NATO’s support, Moscow will be forced to use nuclear weapons.
Medvedev made these alarming statements on his official social media accounts on Monday, July 30th, and stated that if the scenario of a successful Ukrainian attack supported by NATO were to occur and they entered a part of our territory, we would be forced to use our nuclear doctrine under the laws of the President of Russia.
He added, “To put it simply, there will be no other option. So, our enemies should pray that nuclear fires do not ignite in the world.”
However, it appears that the Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council is referring to a part of the country’s nuclear doctrine that states if there is aggression against Russia using conventional weapons in a way that threatens Russia’s existence, Moscow can use nuclear weapons in response.
Ukraine seeks guarantees from the West
On the other hand, senior Kyiv officials say that negotiations with the United States on providing security guarantees to Ukraine as part of the process of joining NATO will begin this week.
Andriy Yermak, the head of Volodymyr Zelensky’s office, said on Monday, July 30th, that “security guarantees for Ukraine will be tangible and long-term commitments that will ensure Kyiv’s ability to defeat and deter Russian aggression in the future.”
He noted that these guarantees will be enforceable until Ukraine becomes a member of NATO.
According to Zelensky’s office, Ukrainian officials from several countries are preparing to meet in Saudi Arabia to discuss the Ukrainian peace plan, which is based on the complete withdrawal of Russian forces. The meeting is scheduled to take place on October 5th and 6th in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
