Meeting of the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights with Afghan Civil Society Activists in Germany
Bayan News – Richard Bent, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights for Afghanistan, has met with a number of civil society activists and women’s rights activists in Germany.
Bent wrote today, Monday (August 27), on the X Network that the agenda of this meeting focused on the priorities of civil society and international policy regarding Afghanistan.
He further wrote, “Participants emphasized that addressing the situation in Afghanistan is an international responsibility.”
In the past two years, a significant number of women’s rights activists, protesting girls, civil society activists, and human rights advocates have sought refuge in Germany.
Germany, which has been an important ally of Afghanistan in the past two decades, has evacuated thousands of vulnerable individuals from the country in the past two years.
Recently, the Foreign Minister of this country announced that his country remains committed to staying steadfast in supporting the people of Afghanistan.
