Mutaqi to Pakistani Delegation: Political Considerations Should Not Impact Trade Relations

Bayan News – Amir Khan Mutaqi, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated during a meeting with a recently arrived Pakistani delegation in Kabul that political and security considerations should not result in the blockade of the border crossings between the two countries.

The ministry announced in a newsletter on Friday (September) that Mr. Mutaqi had met and held discussions with a Pakistani delegation, led by Aasif Durani, the special representative of Pakistan for Afghanistan, who had traveled to Kabul.

According to the newsletter, the parties extensively discussed security issues, the detention and mistreatment of Afghan citizens in Pakistan, as well as the export and transit of goods.

The special representative of Pakistan for Afghanistan added that Islamabad is ready to cooperate with Kabul in many aspects, and that it will find solutions to the problems that have arisen at the border crossings.

Furthermore, the newsletter mentioned that during this meeting, Mr. Mutaqi emphasized to the Pakistani delegation that political and security considerations should not lead to the blockade of the border crossings between the two countries.

According to Mutaqi, security issues should be resolved through joint committees.
