Loss of Life of an Afghan Journalist’s Family in Unmanned Ukrainian Plane Attack in the City of Belgorod, Russia
Recently, it has been reported that Kheiber Akifi, an Afghan journalist, and members of his family were killed and injured in an attack by an unmanned Ukrainian plane in the city of Belgorod, Russia, on Friday (October 13).
According to reports, in this attack, Kheiber Akifi and his Russian wife were injured, and their four-year-old daughter lost her life. It is also said that several other members of the journalist’s wife’s family were killed.
Russian media have reported that this journalist was working for the Sputnik news agency and had recently taken leave to visit his family in the Belgorod region.
Dmitry Kiselov, the Director-General of the Rossiya Segodnya International Media Group, stated, “As a result of the attack by the unmanned Ukrainian plane, our employee working in the Afghanistan section of Sputnik and his Russian wife have been severely injured and are under special care.”
According to him, Russian authorities are actively negotiating regarding possible actions, including the decision to transfer the injured to Moscow.
However, Shah Sultan Akifi has confirmed the loss of life and injuries to members of his family.
