Nawaz Sharif Returns to His Country After Four Years of Exile

Bayan News – International media have reported that Nawaz Sharif, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, has returned to his country from the UK on a chartered plane accompanied by members of his party and media personnel.

According to reports, the 73-year-old Sharif, who had been sentenced to 14 years in prison on charges of financial corruption, went to the UK for medical treatment in 2019 and had not returned to his country since then.

Meanwhile, Pakistani media outlets have reported on Saturday (October 21st) that Sharif’s convictions are still in effect, and the country’s court has ordered him to appear for questioning by Wednesday.

According to the Pakistani media reports, although he is barred from participating in elections, Sharif intends to become the Prime Minister for the fourth time once the charges against him are dropped.

The reports also mention that if successful in court, Sharif’s main challenge will be to regain the support of Imran Khan’s followers, who is currently serving a prison sentence.
