Jolie: Pakistan Pushing Back Refugees Struggling to Survive

Bayan News – Simultaneously with the ongoing forced expulsion of Afghan refugees by the Pakistani government, Angelina Jolie, a renowned global actress and United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, has criticized this action from Islamabad, considering it contrary to human rights values.

Jolie wrote on her official Instagram page today, Tuesday, November 13th, that the mass expulsion of Afghan refugees from Pakistan is another example of regression in the field of human rights worldwide.

The actress wrote, “Pakistan, which has been a supporter of many Afghan migrant families for decades, I am saddened to see them suddenly pushing back refugees who are struggling to survive amidst the impossible realities of Afghanistan today. A place where women are once again deprived of all rights and education, many are in prisons, and there is a deep humanitarian crisis.”

According to Jolie, the mass expulsion of Afghan migrants from Pakistan is another example of regression in the field of human rights globally and a new tragedy in the long history of suffering for the people of this country.

Jolie further emphasized that despite better promises for the people of Afghanistan, they have experienced nothing but war, conflict, and migration.

Over the past month, the Pakistani government has unprecedentedly expelled Afghan refugees, and according to published statistics, more than 200,000 individuals have been returned to Afghanistan during this period.

This action by Islamabad has elicited international reactions, with international organizations considering it contrary to human rights values.
