The Democracy Award was presented to Afghan female journalist Nazia Hashimyar by the NED institution

Bayan News – The NED, an international institution based in the United States, awarded the Journalism Prize on the occasion of its 40th anniversary to Nazia Hashimyar, a journalist from the Amu TV.

The award was presented to the Afghan journalist during a ceremony held in Washington yesterday (November 14th).

Officials from the NED stated that despite limitations, independent media in Afghanistan continue to inform the Afghan people and make efforts in this field.

Damon Wilson, the President and CEO of NED, added that the 2023 winners of the awards confirm the global aspiration for democracy.

However, the NED Democracy Awards are given annually to appreciate the “brave and creative” work of individuals and organizations in advancing human rights and democracy worldwide.
