Rina Amiri calls for the release of women activists from the custody of the Islamic Emirate

Bayan News – Rina Amiri, the US Special Representative for Women’s Affairs and Human Rights in Afghanistan, has called for the release of women activists from the custody of the Islamic Emirate forces.

Amiri wrote on the X platform early this morning, Sunday (December 9th), stating that Julia Parsi, Manizha Seddiqi, Parisa Azada, Neda Parvani, and all human rights defenders detained for defending the rights of the Afghan people should be released.

According to the US Special Representative, women activists in Afghanistan should be applauded, not punished and imprisoned.

Recently, four women protesters were detained by Taliban intelligence forces in Kabul.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, had stated that the women protesters were detained to prevent foreign conspiracies and maintain public security.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has also urged the interim Kabul government to release women activists as soon as possible.

According to the organization, as of this date, four women activists have been in custody since September 19th.
