Fayeq on World Human Rights Day: Islamic Emirate Ignores the Rights and Freedoms of the People of Afghanistan
Bayan News – Nasir Ahmad Fayeq, the acting representative of Afghanistan at the United Nations, on the occasion of World Human Rights Day, states that the rights and freedoms of the people of Afghanistan, especially women and girls, are being disregarded by the Islamic Emirate.
Today, on Monday (December 10th), which coincides with World Human Rights Day, the acting representative of Afghanistan at the United Nations wrote on the X platform: “On the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we are witnessing a blatant violation of the fundamental rights and freedoms of the people of Afghanistan, including civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights, particularly for women and girls, under the rule of the Taliban for the past two years.”
He stated that there is no legal protection and safeguarding of the right to life, freedom, personal security, and privacy of Afghan citizens under the rule of the Islamic Emirate.
However, seventy-five years ago today, on December 10, 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted in Paris, the capital of France. A few years after the adoption of this declaration, Afghanistan became a member of it.
On the other hand, the authorities of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan emphasize on one hand that the basic rights of the people are more guaranteed than ever before, and on the other hand, they claim that human rights are a political tool for Western countries to secure their own interests.
