Concerns of the International Federation of Journalists about Pressures on Afghan Media

Bayan News – The International Federation of Journalists has expressed concerns in its newsletter about the ongoing pressures and actions of the Islamic Emirate on Afghan media outlets.
The organization stated in its newsletter that if the pressures on journalists and media personnel continue, Afghan media outlets will be forced to completely halt their information dissemination.
The International Federation of Journalists emphasized that the existing restrictions in Afghanistan will seriously impede the process of freedom of expression.
At the same time, the international organization has called on the caretaker Kabul government to release imprisoned journalists. However, in the past month, two local journalists from Kandahar and Daikundi provinces have been detained by the forces of the Islamic Emirate, but the reasons for their arrest have not been clarified.
The local journalist from private television station Tamadun in Kandahar and the editor-in-chief of Radio Nasleem in Daikundi province are among the recently detained journalists.
Supportive organizations for journalists have stated that any violations by journalists should go through the process of the Complaints Commission and the General Media Law.
