Muttaqi to Iranian Journalists: Iran is a Good Neighbor to Afghanistan

Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Foreign Minister of the Taliban, met with a group of Iranian journalists and media officials in Kabul on Friday afternoon (December 28).

Zia Ahmad Takal, the Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wrote on the X platform that the head of the ministry discussed recent developments and the foreign policy of the Taliban.

Takal quoted Mr. Muttaqi as saying that the foreign policy of the Taliban pursues the religious and national interests of Afghanistan and that this policy will not be influenced under any circumstances. According to the spokesperson, Muttaqi further emphasized that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has made significant achievements in establishing a central system, ensuring security, and eradicating drug cultivation.

The acting Foreign Minister also regarded Iran as a good neighbor to Afghanistan and emphasized that the bilateral relations between Tehran and Kabul are moving towards strengthening and developing, indicating a bright future for the two countries.

The visit of Amir Khan Muttaqi to Iran took place just a few days after the Iranian journalists and media officials visited Afghanistan.

Earlier, Mr. Muttaqi traveled to Iran to participate in a meeting held in Tehran regarding Gaza, where he delivered a speech on behalf of Afghanistan.
