Resolution on the Method of Interaction with the Taliban Approved by the UN Security Council

Bayan News – The United Nations Security Council approved a resolution on Friday (December 29) regarding the method of interaction with the interim government in Kabul with 13 affirmative votes.

The resolution on the interaction with the Taliban was voted on by 15 permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, and representatives of Russia and China abstained from voting on this resolution.

The representative of Japan in the Security Council stated that this resolution defines a new strategy for the international community’s engagement with Afghanistan on various issues.

According to the representative of Japan in the Security Council, the international community is committed to cooperating with Afghanistan as the country faces major challenges.

He added, “We have remained united on Afghanistan this year, and we hope that this process will continue in the coming year as well.”

The resolution on the method of interaction with the interim government in Kabul was proposed by Japan and the United Arab Emirates.
