UNAMA: 85% of Afghan population earns less than one dollar per day
Bayan News – The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has stated that 85% of the country’s population earns less than one dollar per day.
The organization announced on Monday, January 14, that the United Nations is supporting the revival of Afghanistan’s productive capacities, creating employment opportunities, combating climate change, and ensuring food security.
This comes as Afghanistan, heavily reliant on agriculture, has been severely affected by consecutive droughts, which have led to crop failures. The droughts and farmers’ concerns about their harvests have exacerbated poverty and hunger in Afghanistan.
