Bayan News – It has been reported from Takhar province that early this morning on Friday (January 25th), three women and eight men were whipped in the premises of the provincial court on various charges.

Sources have told the media that based on the court’s verdict, these individuals were whipped in public for charges of illicit relations, theft, and gambling.

It is also said that the Taliban court in Takhar province has sentenced each of the accused to imprisonment ranging from six months to two years.

However, similar incidents have occurred in various provinces of Afghanistan over the past two years.

Several international organizations have condemned the Taliban’s public punishments as contrary to human rights values and have called on the interim Taliban government to halt such practices.
