Regional Kabul Conference: Muttqi: UN Plans Have Yielded No Results Except War and Instability

Bayan News – Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Taliban, stated at the “Regional Cooperation Initiative” conference that United Nations plans presented during various missions have yielded no results except for war, instability, and the occupation of Afghanistan.

The Regional Cooperation Initiative conference was hosted by the Taliban in Kabul on Tuesday afternoon (January 29th), and diplomatic representatives from regional countries participated in this conference.

The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Taliban delivered a speech at the beginning of this conference and stated that the purpose of holding this conference is to engage in discussions and dialogue to form a regionally-driven narrative for constructive interaction with Afghanistan and regional countries.

In his statement, he added, “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan respects the interests, choices, governance structures, and development models of others and expects others to respect the interests, choices, governance models, and development of Afghanistan.”

Mr. Muttaqi referred to the process of appointing a UN special representative for Afghanistan and added that the plans of this organization have yielded no results for this country except destruction, war, and instability.

This Taliban official once again opposed the appointment of a special representative by the United Nations Secretary-General and stated that there is no need for another special representative in the presence of UNAMA.

The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Taliban requested the ambassadors of regional countries to reflect the tangible realities of Afghanistan in the Doha conference, which will be hosted by the United Nations.

The Special Representatives of countries and regional organizations are scheduled to convene in Doha on February 18th and 19th, hosted by the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

The Taliban representative has also been invited to this conference.
