CENTCOM: US Targets Iran-Backed Militias in Iraq and Syria

Bayan News – US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed in a statement that Iran-backed paramilitary groups in Iraq and Syria have been targeted by US fighter jets.

The command center stated that the airstrikes carried out on Friday evening (February 2nd) targeted 85 objectives, including the facilities of Iran-backed paramilitary groups, resulting in the deaths of 125 militants.

CENTCOM further added that these airstrikes utilized long-range bombers in their operations.

These US airstrikes are in retaliation for the attacks by paramilitary groups on American forces at the Jordan-Syria border. In the attack on US forces, three soldiers were killed and at least 40 others were wounded.

The United States considers Iran-backed paramilitary groups in Iraq and Syria as responsible for the attack on American forces.

On the other hand, it has been reported that paramilitary groups in Iraq and Syria have evacuated their facilities out of fear of US attacks.
