Afghanistan-Pakistan Joint Chamber of Commerce Calls for Special Passports for Truck Drivers

Bayan News – The Afghanistan-Pakistan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PAJCCI) has recently proposed the issuance of special passports for truck drivers to facilitate trade between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Ziaul Haq Sarhadi, the coordinator of PAJCCI, stated in a press statement that this proposal has been made to facilitate trade between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

He said, “Instead of visas, special passports should be issued for approximately one thousand truck drivers so that they can easily transport their goods between Pakistan and Afghanistan.”

He emphasized that the trucks should be registered with customs and transportation authorities in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

According to the organization, issuing special passports for truck drivers will facilitate trade between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The relevant officials from the Pakistani government and the Taliban administration have not commented on this proposal.

This proposal comes at a time when border crossings for commercial goods have been blocked in recent years due to tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

In the latest incident, the Pakistani government demanded visas for Afghan truck drivers, resulting in the closure of the Torkham crossing for several days.
