Biden Orders Continued Humanitarian Assistance to Prevent Economic Collapse in Afghanistan

Bayan News – President Joe Biden of the United States has instructed Congress to continue providing humanitarian aid to Afghanistan in order to prevent an economic collapse.

In a letter posted on the White House website, Biden emphasized that without U.S. assistance, there is a possibility of the country’s economic collapse despite the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

The letter states that the humanitarian crisis and economic challenges pose an extraordinary and unusual threat to U.S. national security and foreign policy.

Biden has reiterated his commitment to the continuation of humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, as outlined in the executive order issued on February 11th.

On February 11th, 2022, President Biden issued an executive order that allows for the release of seven billion dollars from Afghanistan’s blocked assets in the United States to facilitate humanitarian aid and establish a trust fund to compensate the victims of the September 11th attacks.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban government spokesperson, has once again reacted to the blocking of Afghanistan’s assets by the United States.

Mujahid stated in an audio message released through Afghanistan’s national television that the continued blocking of Afghanistan’s assets in the current year is contrary to principles and is an unjust act.
