Taliban Ministry of Foreign Affairs: UN Reports Are Biased

Bayan News – The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly reacted to the United Nations Secretary-General’s quarterly report on Afghanistan and urged the organization to maintain impartiality in its reports.

In a statement issued today, Sunday, March 9th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the UNAMA reports address issues beyond its mandate, raising questions about the accuracy and impartiality of this entity.

According to the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the United Nations politicizes internal conflicts and incidents by using the drug ban to portray them as ethnic problems.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs asserts that the Taliban vehemently protests against the recent UN report and other reports by the organization, recommending that the United Nations focus on accuracy and impartiality rather than superficiality and bias in its reports and actions.

According to the statement from the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Afghanistan is committed to constructive and targeted interaction to achieve common interests and address common concerns at any time and place within the framework of national interests, alongside all countries in the world and the United Nations.

This reaction comes after the United Nations expressed its concern last week by presenting a quarterly report on the situation in Afghanistan, indicating a 35% increase in insecurity levels in the country.

The UN Secretary-General’s report also states that the Taliban still do not adhere to human rights values and continue with their repressive policies.

This quarterly report by the UN Secretary-General was discussed and examined in a Security Council meeting.
