Concern of Denmark Permanent Representation over the dire situation of women journalists in Afghanistan

Bayan News – The Denmark Permanent Representation to the United Nations expresses deep concern over the situation of women journalists in Afghanistan.

During a meeting held at the United Nations headquarters on Wednesday, March 12, this representation raised concerns about the status of women journalists and the restrictive media environment under Taliban control.

In a statement on the X platform, it was noted that Afghan women journalists courageously resist oppression on a daily basis, risking their lives to produce media content.

Permanent representations of countries at the United Nations have called for global support for women journalists in Afghanistan.

This comes as the Taliban’s takeover in Afghanistan has resulted in limited information dissemination and curtailed the freedom of media operations.

According to statistics from supporting organizations for Afghan media outlets, there are no female journalists or media personnel present in the media industry in more than 15 provinces of Afghanistan.
