Bayan News – Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, says that his country is ready to negotiate with the United States on a prisoner exchange.
The Russian Foreign Minister, in an interview with the newspaper “Izvestia,” mentioned that based on a previous agreement between Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden, Moscow is prepared to discuss with the United States the exchange of prisoners between the two countries.
He added that Russia and the US had agreed three years ago on the exchange of prisoners.
Lavrov said, “The Americans always claim that an agreement has been reached, but Russia is not cooperating.”
It is not clear how many Russian and American citizens are currently imprisoned in the prisons of the two countries.
These statements come as last year a Wall Street Journal reporter was arrested by Moscow’s intelligence forces on charges of spying for the US.
