Erdogan’s party suffered defeat in the municipal elections of this country
Bayan News – The Justice and Development Party, led by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Turkey, has suffered a defeat in the municipal elections of this country.
According to reports from the media, Erdogan’s defeat in the municipal elections has been described as historic.
Almost with the counting of all the votes, the Republican People’s Party, which is the main opposition party in this country, managed to achieve its biggest victory in almost half a century.
In every major city in Turkey, including Istanbul, the largest city in the country, this party has emerged victorious.
The current mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglu, was able to win the elections with a ten percent lead over his rival from the ruling party.
He is considered the best opposition candidate for the future presidential elections in Turkey in the next four years.
Mr. Erdogan has admitted that his party has lost its position but emphasized that this is not the end, but a turning point.
