At least 9 refugees have lost their lives in the Mediterranean Sea

Bayan News – International media outlets, citing the Italian Coast Guard, have reported that at least 9 refugees have lost their lives following the capsizing of a boat in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Italian Coast Guard has stated that this incident occurred on Thursday (April 10) and has announced that in their operation, they managed to rescue 22 refugees, while 15 other refugees are still missing.

According to the Italian Coast Guard, adverse weather conditions have posed challenges to their rescue operations.

The survivors of this incident have been transferred to reception centers, but it has not yet been determined the nationalities of these refugees.

According to published reports, Lampedusa, located in the Mediterranean Sea between Tunisia and Malta, and the large island of Sicily, have been important routes for refugees attempting to enter the European Union.
