Reina Amiri’s Conversation with Japanese Officials on the Situation of Women in Afghanistan

Bayan News: Reina Amiri, the United States Special Representative for Women and Human Rights in Afghanistan, says that she has held discussions with Japanese officials regarding Afghanistan, particularly the situation of women and girls in the country.

Amiri wrote on the X platform that she had engaged in discussions and exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan during her meeting with Yamamoto of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation.

The U.S. Special Representative for Women and Human Rights in Afghanistan has reiterated her gratitude to the Japan International Cooperation Agency for their support in education and development in Afghanistan.

She expressed hope that such meetings, focusing on Afghanistan and particularly on expanding opportunities for Afghan women, will continue.

Japan is one of the major donor countries to Afghanistan and has provided nearly one billion dollars in assistance to various sectors for the people of this country over the past two years.
