Further details: Six worshipers killed in an armed attack on a mosque in Herat
Bayan News – Sources from the province of Herat in western Afghanistan say that on Monday evening (April 29th), two motorcyclists opened fire on Shia worshipers in the Gozarah district of the province.
According to sources, at least six worshipers, including the mosque’s mullah (imam), were killed in this incident, and several others were injured.
Among the victims of this attack, women and children are also reported.
It has been stated that the perpetrators fled the scene of the shooting.
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses have stated that this attack took place after the evening prayer in the Mohammadiai village of the Gozarah district in Herat province.
Eyewitnesses said, “When the worshipers were leaving the mosque, they became the target of the armed attack.”
Security officials in Herat province have not yet commented on this incident.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for this attack.
This is the latest in a series of armed attacks on Shia Muslims in Herat province that have occurred in the past year.
