Fazlur Rahman: We are being punished due to improving Afghanistan-Pakistan relations
Bayan News – Maulana Fazlur Rahman, the leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party in Pakistan, states that his party is being punished due to efforts to improve Afghanistan-Pakistan relations.
Fazlur Rahman made these remarks on Thursday (May 2nd) during a gathering in Karachi, Pakistan.
He said, “We are being punished because of our efforts to improve relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.”
However, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party was unable to secure seats in the parliament of Pakistan in this year’s elections.
He had strongly opposed the parliamentary elections, emphasizing the presence of fraud and corruption in the electoral process.
Furthermore, last year, the leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party had visited Kabul and tried to improve relations between the Afghan Taliban and Pakistan, but his efforts were unsuccessful.
Relations between the Afghan Taliban and Pakistan have become tense due to the issue of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), as Islamabad claims that the TTP poses a security threat to Pakistan by using Afghan soil.
