Taliban’s Response: Appointment of Consulate in Mashhad is our Responsibility
Bayan News – The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has responded to the recent statements made by the spokesperson of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has announced that the diplomatic mission in the consulate is the responsibility of the sending country.
Zakir Jalali, the head of the Third Directorate of the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wrote on the X platform on Friday (May 31) that “the decision of who should oversee the diplomatic mission of a country or a consulate belongs to the sending country.”
This Taliban Foreign Ministry official added that the work of Abdul Jaber Ansari, the former government’s consul general in Mashhad, has ended by order of the Prime Minister.
However, Nasser Kanaani, yesterday, reacted to the appointment of a consul general in Mashhad and asked the Taliban to respect diplomatic methods.
This Iranian Foreign Ministry official added that Tehran expects the changes in the Mashhad consulate to be made through well-known international methods.
