OCHA: 19% of Afghanistan’s workers are children

Bayan News – The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says that 19% of children in Afghanistan are engaged in hazardous work.

This UN agency stated on Wednesday (June 12) on the occasion of the World Day Against Child Labor that there are serious concerns about the well-being and future of children.

OCHA added: “We must work together to ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn and grow in a safe environment.”

It is worth noting that many children from families have turned to doing difficult work due to poverty and hunger.

Although there are no precise statistics on child laborers in Afghanistan, it is observed that the number of child workers in Afghanistan has increased more in the past two years.
